When we founded Sayd, we set out from the conviction that hunting is responsibility, culture, and knowledge of nature and the principles of practice. A person who goes out into nature needs to know its birds and animals, understand its seasons and respect its limits, and grasp the effect of their practice on the life around them.
Today, as we work on relaunching the magazine, we carry that conviction into a new stage. We want Sayd to become a trusted Arab reference for sustainable hunting and the world of nature, and a platform that joins scientific knowledge with human experience and responsible practice.
What does that mean for the reader? And what will they find in Sayd in the coming stage?
They will find, first, knowledge they can return to. We will work to present documented material on birds, wildlife, and biodiversity: How do we distinguish species? What do we know about their behavior and habitats? Why do they migrate, and what dangers do they face? And how do we enjoy watching and photographing them and contribute to protecting them?
We want the image to help recognition, the fact to rest on a source, and the article to leave the reader with a deeper understanding of what they see in nature. When knowledge is unsettled, we will state its limits; when a fact needs correction or updating, we will review it.
Hobbyists and professionals in these activities will also find a space that addresses their practical questions. Responsible hunting, shooting, equestrianism, falconry, and sea fishing have a place in this magazine, as do travel gear, safety, and good preparation. We will cover these fields with help from people of experience, in a way that joins practical benefit with respect for the law, the environment, and sound practice.
Laws and seasons will have a clear presence, with a distinction between enforceable texts and demands and proposals. Our position is to support a clear legal season grounded in knowledge and accompanied by real enforcement and serious monitoring. We reject random and illegal hunting, the targeting of protected species, and practices that deplete wildlife. We want the responsible hunter to be a partner in protecting nature, and for that role to show in their behavior, knowledge, and stance.
Our return comes as autumn and the bird migration season approach, with the opportunity they bring for knowledge, watching, and photography, and the responsibility toward birds on passage and their habitats. This season will be among the first gateways of our editorial work, alongside following developments in equestrianism, shooting, and nature issues.
People and their stories have a fundamental place in Sayd. From the magazine’s beginnings, in-depth interviews were part of its character. In the coming stage, we want to continue dialogue with influential figures in Lebanon, the Arab world, and beyond: officials, businesspeople, artists, riders, and hunters, and with experts, researchers, photographers, and people of distinctive experience.
What matters to us in these encounters is what experience reveals: How did their relationship with nature and this hobby begin? What did they learn? How did their view of nature and responsibility change? And what can they offer others? We aspire to build an Arab archive of testimonies and stories worth preserving and reading again.
We will work, gradually, to expand Sayd’s presence at specialized championships, exhibitions, and festivals, from Lebanon to Arab countries—especially the Gulf—and to open space for international experiences that add knowledge and expertise. We also want to introduce readers to serious clubs, associations, initiatives, and projects, and to convey the questions and challenges of those working in these sectors.
Although “Hunting and Equestrianism” is our main title, the world we belong to is wider. In ecotourism there is a chance to discover a place and respect it; in heritage, a memory of the human relationship with the land; in photography and art, other ways of seeing nature. “Your Health in Nature” and “The Kings’ Table” also have their place, treated with care for accuracy and linking knowledge to experience and local culture.
We return with an archive that encourages this work. Older pieces on hunting, shooting, laws, and birds have kept receiving readers years after publication, even during periods of reduced activity. That stock places on us the responsibility of reviewing and renewing it, preserving its value, and adding what deserves to join it.
This vision will not be complete in a single day. We will begin with selected pieces and coverages that can be delivered, and develop our presence and sections gradually, while improving the reading experience and access to content—especially on mobile. We will listen to readers and specialists, because their questions and notes are part of building a useful magazine close to its audience.
And we want this return to last. Therefore we welcome cooperation with institutions, associations, and companies that share our respect for nature and value specialized media. Accuracy of information and independence of editorial decision will remain the basis of any sponsorship or partnership; the reader’s trust is what gives this work its worth.
