Saudi Arabia’s Special Forces for Environmental Security renewed the warning against practicing wild hunting in places where hunting is prohibited, affirming that the violation carries a fine of 5,000 Saudi riyals, and calling for compliance with regulations and instructions on protecting the environment and wildlife.
The tightening comes with the launch of the Saudi wild hunting season 2026–2027, which began on 1 September and runs until 31 January 2027. The National Center for Wildlife (NCW) designated 30 species allowed for hunting under approved quotas, licenses, and conditions.
Hunting is prohibited inside protected areas, residential areas, farms, and rest houses, and near sensitive facilities, in addition to a number of projects and zones specified by the regulations. Hunting of endangered species remains permanently banned.
Monitoring of hunting places forms part of Saudi policy aimed at balancing the continuation of regulated hunting with conservation of wildlife and bird habitats, especially during migration seasons.
