More than 40 sailors are expected in Optimist and ILCA racing as part of the academy’s youth training programme.

The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club Academy will hold the third round of its internal sailing competition on Sunday, 8 November 2026. More than 40 male and female sailors from its Abu Dhabi and Al Mirfa programmes are expected to take part, according to Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The round includes Optimist and ILCA racing, giving young sailors an opportunity to test their skills, from boat handling and reading wind direction to adapting to changing sailing conditions.

Coaches use these internal rounds to assess participants’ progress and prepare them for domestic and international competition.

Academy director Khalifa Al Suwaidi said the races support continuous training and the development of new sailors, alongside discipline and a competitive spirit. He also highlighted the academy’s efforts to attract more young participants and provide an environment in which Emirati talent can develop.

The round will conclude with awards for the leading competitors in the different categories.
