The Libyan Authority for Heritage and Wildlife has banned the hunting of all wild animal and bird species in Sirte and surrounding areas for three years under Decision No. 24 of 2026, according to a report published by the Al-Anbaa al-Libiya newspaper on 5 November 2026.

The ban covers coastal and inland areas and reserves within that geographical scope. Its three-year term runs from the date the decision was issued.

The relevant authorities have been tasked with enforcing the measure and taking legal action against offenders under applicable legislation. The measure aims to protect wild species and their habitats, reduce the pressures they face and conserve biodiversity.
